Musingsofkatie: Coming to a town near you

Oh dear reader, I am not my usual fabulous self as I write this blog...why I hear you ask? I have just returned from a weekend of camping with the family. Why does anyone ever go camping? It really is just living your everyday life, but in a canvas house, having to wait in a queue of 7 other women to have a shower in the morning, having no electricity and having to fetch a pail of water every day to boil for tea. It's like living in the dark ages. I mean it's different in Glastonbury; obviously camping there is the like waking up in the coolest place on earth- the sun rises over a field of hungover indie campers, and as a band starts up on the main stage you breath in the colour of the exciting shops and stalls, ignoring the mud to trudge happily in amongst stilted jugglers and colourful can-canners. Living in a campsite is like waking up on a council estate- the clouds form over a field of fat, fat men with their tops off, and as some haggard old cow calls 'five minutes til the showers close for cleaning', you give up all hope of ever finding the shampoo in time, and are assigned with the task of cleaning the greasy dishes in amongst resentful housewives who thought that their lives would be different on a campsite. But as I said- it is just like living normally really. Although it was cute at night time when we would curl up around a log fire with the dogs, roasting marshmallows and melting chocolate... AND I saw two gorgeous, retro VW camper vans, straight out of 1957.

Otherwise I am as happy as a happy little bunny in a sweet shop as we have a whole week off exams- which are going very well, thanks; music was a piece of piss and i am SO happy I never have another music lesson again, English Lit went very well, German was good and Statistics- err..don't ask about statistics. I don't want to relive that exam again. So this week will be revision all the way baby, just 7 more exams to get through before sun, sea, sand, surf and sexy scottish guys! Also am happy as I have a sexy new blog poster AND 'musingsof' button, both of which I have been dropping all over MySpace to shamelessly plug this page- can you see I'm going with the shoe chaos theme this week.......? I would have gone with the tagline 'coming to a town near you' but there was no space. And I could see it might have connotations for people like Sam...don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about young lady!!

As I mentioned last week I have been helplessly drawn into the mindless charade of popularity that is MySpace...if only it wasn't so addictive I would be able to condone I fucking hate myspace.com which describes it as a place where "everyone goes to engage in incredible ego trips and incessant forays of commenting and message sending". But I won't do that, as I, along with 81,368,055 others have been tempted by the music and the messages and the pictures and the sending of the comments back and forth and the simple layouts which anyone can use. (Not like this site- I spent bloody ages sortin the HTML to make this page look fab for your net surfing pleasure, only to find out that I could create something similar on a MySpace generator in under 5 minutes. Hmmph.)Don't get me wrong though- I love it. Addicted. Totally.

It's the Jukebox!! On there this week I've treated you to another Kinks classic, as well as my new favourite recent song from the Kooks, and some other summer anthems. There's also some fresh meat in the form of the Tacticians (who I discovered on MySpace, ironically..). Don't be put off by the title- its an awesome song. Also my other new favourite song, Hollywood Bowl; it really is funk-de-la-y. So there's this week's jukebox of cute summer tunes for you to feast on, no requests for anything so far so I'm free to play whatever I want! Fab. Speaking of cute summer tunes, I am in desparate need of inspiration as to songs for the party- I've got some but nowhere near enough to fill three hours! If you think you can help, or just have a few minutes spare with nothing to do- I need ideas for warming-up songs, dancing songs, and slow dances. No Pop, Rap or R&B please. Every donation makes a difference.

That's all for this week, good luck to everyone revising- remember to take breaks and treat yourself, perhaps by surfing the net and leaving a comment on the site- just click on "lemme hear ya" further down. Or perhaps by telling your friends about the cute and colourful musingsofkatie page- you could even click on the little envelope thing which I don't know how to get rid of to email the blog to a loved one! Groov-de-la-y.

Love

Katie xxx
