Cool Parisians and stuff

Evening all. Sorry, I know I havent written in absolutely ages- everything's just been flashing by at super speed and I haven't had a chance to just go 'waaaait a minute, hang on a sec, slow down'. I'm starting to feel like a neglectful owner lately, and I know, a blog is for life- not just for Christmas. So I think I'll spoil you this week with a whole load of new stuff. How does that sound?

Right, so- what have I been up to... well it's been half term this week (apparently- have hardly noticed though as its seemed like .076 of a millisecond) and it started off with an ACE early halloween party, and what I remember of it seemed like a good ol' larf... and it's safe to say that halloween costumes get so much better as people get older- much more imaginative fairies cats and er... clowns than the old bin liner I used to bung over my head back in the day. I don't think I can drink for at least another month though.

Actually before that went to see The Automatic at the Astoria who were bloomin' marvellous. Although if I ever go again I won't stand on the left, cos Pennie stands there, so we were swarmed by annoying little groupie girls who were all screaming in a really high pitched annoying way. But other than that, was very good. And Goldigga is just genius.

Ermmm what else... yea I was going to use this half term to redecorate my room but then my mum jetted off to Beijing and my Dad decided to slack off on the DIY front, so that went out the window. But instead I have been getting guitar lessons from Chris, an absolute ledge, who owed my Dad a favour so has given me like three 3 or 4 hour long lessons for free round his. And I used to hate the guitar when I was learning crap jazz parrot-fashion at school, but now... I LOVE IT. I seriously owe this guy so much, cos he's made me really mega passionate about guitar again, and I've learnt all this rockin' stuff- Summer of 69, some Chili Peppers, T-Rex, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mr Brightside, Led Zep, James Brown, Raconteurs, Radiohead... and he restrung my guitar and gave me a couple of his old pedals. And he's in the music biz, so I've been given a whole load of free CDs and uber-exclusive albums, which leads me to my next point...

...Dorp. Remember their name. They're my new favourite band- a really rocky electro-y outfit, kinda like Muse in a computer game with laser shooty gun things and UFOs, I reckon. Except cooler. And also The Nude Girls, who are gonna be played on Zane Lowe at some point. I hope their stuff gets played soon, cos I've got both their albums and I can't share them with anyone cos I'll get sued. So you'll just have to take my word for it =)
I'll put a couple of tracks on the old mixtape though just for you... and also some Holloways- ooo the Holloways I forgot- I am actually in love with this band. Generator has been on my Myspace since what seems like the dawn of time; they're just awesome. Also a bit of Ejectorseat, who are lovely lads- I dragged my Dad to a little bar in Brixton to see them play alongside some obscure French bands; there were about 12 people there. Seriously. There was me and my Dad, a couple of random groupies and then a load of skinny French people. Including Neimo- the coolest Frenchman in a leather jacket I ever did chance upon in the back of a Brixton bar. He had a green and red flashing watch that looked like somethin out of Back to The Future. I half expected him to shout 'au revoir' before jumping on a hoverboard and crash through the wall in a DeLorean.

But he didn't. What was I saying... oh yeah I had a good old natter with Barrington from ejectorseat- who seemed so normal and down-to-earth in an up-north kind of way compared to the skinny-jeaned Parisians. And I got a free CD out of it, which after a couple of drinks I was "really really really grateful" for. Oh and on the way back at Kings Cross i got chatting to gorgeous Dan, 22, studying architecture at Uni, who used to go to St Georges and live in Harpenden! Coincidence? He was actually just orgasmically sexy, and really nice! We were chatting for ages about how crap Harpenden is. We got separated in the carriage but he kept looking at me with dark, brooding eyes and smiling... and then came over to talk to me some more. He had to get off at St Albans but he was like... 'really nice to meet you, maybe I'll see you around'. I'm such a twat that I didn't get his number! That's twice that's happened now! Arrrrrghghhhhhh...

Hmm... if I want to be a high-flying journalist maybe i shouldn't just write things that pop into my head like "Arrrrrghghhhhhh". But I couldn't think of anything articulate to say to express my pissed-offness. Speaking of journalism and the like, my little obligitarily-forced-into-doing newspaper club started off the other week- I've got no idea how it's gonna go. Four cutie little girls from year 7 and 8 came along with my little brother, who i forced to go. It was quite funny, he blatantly didn't want to be there. Oh my god my brother just did this painful thing where he made my hold my fists together and then he cracked my knuckles really loudly. And when I said it hurt he called me a "pansy". Does anyone say pansy anymore? I don't think its as effective an insult as it was 50 years ago in school playgrounds. Just now he ran into the room really excited about a new lamp that my Dad has. A lamp. "No Katie it's really cool!!! It's like the one in the Pixar thing!! And it doesn't have a normal on/off switch, oh no, it's got: a flicker.' I do worry sometimes...

So back to whatever it was that I was talking about before- spent the day in jolly oxford street yesterday which was marv. I got some gorgeous new camouflage pumps to replace my crap old peep-toes, and had a good old browse round topshop, heaven in a building. Funniest moment was when a journalist wanted to snap Cara looking stylish for a Brazilian magazine: Me and Hannah: Oh, do you just want to take one of Cara? Journalist: Errrrrrrm......(looks us up and down)... yes.

Oooooh and tommorrow I've got a couple of hours paid training at my NEW JOB on the reception at the sports center! Oh yes, gone are the days of looking after little kids for like 50p an hour; I'll now be answering phones and meeting new people; and not just normal new people, hot, sweaty, muscley new people who are going to the gym. Could there be a better job for me?

So that pretty much concludes my half-term- ooo you actually have to check out NEET magazine, it's so cool- all into grassroots creativity and DIY and stuff. Theres so many pretty pictures and links, I love it. Also ASOS.com is my new favourite site- I got a gorge black dress 'in the style of Christina Aguilera' from there which i wore to the party, and it was reduced!! And it arrived the next day. And it's loverly. Recommendation enough?

I'll try and write again soon, but theres about 62071 essays and stuff that I've gotta do for fucking A-levels- I'm back to school on Monday and I've gotta cram in all the stuff that I haven't done over the weekend. Fuck. Am also going in to shadow my Dad at Channel 4 news on Tuesday so I'll let u know how that goes. I probably won't get round to writing until about December... when EVE'S COMING TO STAY!!!!!!! WOooooop.... (woooop? Ditto what I said earlier about writing things that just pop into my head.)
Love
Katie xxx
p.s. mega shoutout 2 my karate cutie Olivia! What a lovely girlie she is xx
