Lazy and Dandy
Oh what a weekend. Again. Remember those bands I told you about before- the Nude Girls and Dorp? Went to see them Friday night- first The Nude Girls in FOPP on totthenham court rd, turns out theyre the biggest selling rock band in south africa and had just played shows to 4000 people. And they played a set to about 20. Met Chris the ledge who supplied free beer and a Nude Girls album to get signed- just in case they get famous and I can ebay it.Then we hopped on the tube (and when I say 'we', by the way, I don't mean myself and a shiny team of uber-hip groupie rockers, oh no. I mean me and my dad. Rock.) to the Bull n Gate in Kentish town to catch Dorp, who were very nice indeed. They're from all over the place and have this fab electro rock sound with lots of dancing and flashy lights. After a lot of free beer flashy lights + electro-rock dancing+ gaven the 'drummer' (least said about that the better...) = a wicked night.
And smashing head working my first Saturday the next morning. Lovely... I tell you arrogant uptight posh folk complaining about fucking birthday parties and lack of water in the water coolers is not what your head needs at 8 on a saturday morning. I hope I get paid soon =)
Today after begging for one of those ultra-cool recordable turntable things that cost about 200 quid to turn old vinyl into mp3s my dad put his techno cap on and worked out a way to do it himself! So i've been having a lotta fun rifling through a lot of old, old crap Hawkwind (bring on the hawkwind moshing routine..) to find little nuggets of wholegrain goodness in our metaphorical vinyl cereal- Beastie Boys.. Queen.. Steely Dan... Fleetwood Mac Pink Floyd and Janis Joplin have all been blaring at pretty much full volume. My mum decided to hijack the record player with the Monkees at one point which met screams of 'TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!' from around the house. Full working order has now been resumed.
The first draft of my Christmas list has taken pride of place on our fridge. Top most wanted includes the coveted polka dot guitar strap from dollydagger, vouchers for Fopp, and black and gold sparkly legwarmers from ASOS.com. I heart them.
Can you tell from my lazy writing that I'm completely knackered?! Cos I am. And I think I'm going to have an early night, even though I may have become slightly sidetracked with re-reading chapter 113078 of Possession and meticulously annotating every other word to the point of mind-numbing self-destruction...
Enjoy... music on tape player... comments... leave... yawn... Night night.
